When buying a second hand car, the best thing you can be is informed. We get asked plenty of questions when our customers are interested in our new stock. Here's the most frequently asked questions our customers ask so you know where you stand:

  • Can I pay for my car using a debit/credit card?

    Due to changes in legislation restricting us from passing on the surcharge levied by debit/credit card providers to you the consumer, and to ensure that you are not disadvantaged by the introduction of a service charge across all payment methods that would allow us to recoup this surcharge. Thereby keeping our prices as low as possible, we can no longer accept payments of more than £200 by credit card against a vehicle, debit card is accepted for your optional convenience. It is more than appropriate especially today to recommend a contactless payment so balance (excluding the £200 deposit) to be paid via bank transfer when collecting your vehicle.
  • Do you do HPI Checks on all vehicles?

    Shirlton carries out an HPI Check on every vehicle prior to going on sale to ensure that a car has no outstanding finance, has not been reported stolen and has not been written off by an insurance company.
  • Do you part exchange?

    We are happy to accept part-exchanges. You can get a competitive price for your old car by Calling our Team on 01543 506518 The only information you will need to provide is your registration number and current mileage.
  • Can I take a test drive?

    Go for a spin anytime! We offer test drives six days a week on all vehicles on display. Simply ask a member of the team to arrange one for you. Just remember to bring your driving licence along when you take the test drive for identification purposes.
  • Do you tax vehicles?

    Due to recent changes in the way vehicles are taxed, you will need to obtain your own tax. We will happily provide you with the facilities to do this when you collect your car.
  • Are prices online negotiable?

    Our daily price checks ensure that our vehicles are competitively priced online at all times. If you feel at any time prices are not competitive for a vehicle you like, call us to see if we can help you.
  • Do all cars come with a warranty?

    Peace of mind comes as standard at Shirlton that’s why we offer a 3 month guarantee with all our retail cars, however, should you wish to extend your warranty we do have several options available. An extended warranty will offer you peace of mind against major repair bills should your car suffer a mechanical or electrical breakdown.
  • Do you offer an additional warranty?

    You can purchase an Extended PLATINUM: All mechanical and electrical cover Warranty at the same time you purchase your car. This makes it really convenient and if you are buying your car on finance, there may even be an option to include the cost of your warranty within your monthly finance payments. Having the extended warranty in place for 12, 24 or 36 months will give you complete peace of mind, should something go wrong with your car in the future.
  • Do you provide finance options?
